Jet lag

I slept from 5 am til 1730 yesterday and from around 5 until D woke me at noon today. It’s been getting worse rather than better as time goes on!

On the bright side, I could watch the oscars tonight

I have been extremely conflicted about the past posts. I feel obligated to say something, especially when I am convinced that there are errors of fact being widely circulated, and that people making an obvious attempt to do some reading are either not understanding what they are reading or getting bad info.

On the other hand, if someone says that he or she is offended – what is there to say? Feelings are not the subject of debate. If people say that a clarification doesn’t satisfy them, who am I to say what if anything should satisfy them. There is no reasonable man test for feelings.

Each of us, and each organization has its own history and baggage and this particular pope, being a German pope, is particularly mindful of the Reformation. (Don’t believe me, research his role in the agreement with the Lutherans.) The Jewish community needs be sees things from a different and very painful historical perspective. And even without the events of the past centuries, the tenets of Christian belief are gravely offensive in and of themselves for both Jews and Muslims. [censored] There is certainly enough for everyone to be offended about – what to do?

Too much for a blog about living in Germany as an expat. If you have serious questions, I will do what I can to dig up answers for you and send you links. I don’t feel capable of convincing anyone of anything here and this topic has been one of a few things that has kept me from posting here over the past couple of weeks – we’ll see if that changes if I put this one to bed.
