Now just half a year shy of permanent residency still true as my time as a student only counts 50% – live and learn, I have been in Germany since 2003. I once made do in a mere 42.5 qm which I shared with my beloved Unnamed German Spouse. Since December, we’ve moved up in the world and now I have a whole 86 qm to call my very own. All this is still located in southwestern Germany. Professionally, I am “on a break” right now, in which my primary occupation is figuring out what I want to do with my remaining time on the planet – which may be entirely different than what I did til now. I’ve started over and we’ll see where that goes.
Due to scheduling conflicts, I am aparantly haveing my midlife crisis 10 years early.
Catholicism in Germany makes me miss American Catholicism – which says a lot. I do try to keep a lid on it here as most of my readers do not share my views, but I will have the occaisional comment. (I “play nice” here. Please respect that.)
The blog title is a pun. If you know me personally, please just call me Ann. I do hope to work again one day am now working again, and, well, as they say on Car Talk, “No last names please.”

My poor husband forgot his wallet a few months ago and got tickedted for schwartzfahren. We were quite ticked that when he went to pay the ticket and showed not only the ticket, but the rciept showing that he had bought a monthly when his ticket was dated, and the preceding 4 months of purchases of a monthly, that they would not excuse him for having forgotten his wallet that once! And it was 40E, more than half the cost of the monthly he already had.
